A total of 284 horses of all ages have been cataloged for the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Fall Sale, the auction house's annual New York breeding stock sale, to be held in a single session Monday, Oct. 18 at the Humphrey S. Finney Sales Pavilion in Saratoga Springs, New York. The event returns to the calendar for 2020, having been a casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic 12 months ago.
“After being forced to cancel last year's sale due to the pandemic, Saratoga Fall returns with a larger catalogue than 2019,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning.
“We will begin the sale with nearly 90 broodmares and racing/broodmare prospects–an increase in quality and quantity for that segment of the sale,” continued Browning. “We will then transition into a strong group of nearly 200 weanlings–the vast majority of which were foaled in New York.”
Among those are youngsters by the likes of Accelerate, Catalina Cruiser, Central Banker, Cloud Computing, Constitution, Distorted Humor, Freud, Goldencents, Honor Code, Klimt, Laoban, Malibu Moon, Mendelssohn, Practical Joke, Tonalist, Unified, Vino Rosso and World of Trouble.
A pair of then-weanlings–a colt and a filly–by Practical Joke topped the 2019 Saratoga Fall sale when bringing $160,000 and $150,000, respectively, and each is currently in training at the Spa.
